Fundraiser

How do you sell candles for a fundraiser?  My scout troop needs money for jamboree and I was thinking about having them make and sell candles.  If anybody has sold their candles this way, I would like to know how they did it.  How much they charge, and stuff like that.  Thanks in advance.  ---Rachel

I did a fund raiser for the FCCLA group at the highschool.  I made up an order form for them with choices and the prices with tax already on it.  Don't give them too many scent choices.  I went with my 10 most popular.

A neat way for them to let the customers smell the scents is to make up a sample set in really little jars.  Since I'm a Brookstone junkie, I bought the little 1 1/2 oz hex jars and made them up in that.  They turned out nice.

I sold about $4,000 worth with only 10 kids participating. How much you sell each candle for is up to you.  Say a small for $6.00, a medium for $12, and a large for $15.  Just depends on how much you have into them.

Also, don't let it go on too long.  I found 2 months was plenty.  Even though we did it in the spring, our sales were still really good.  I think because it was close to Mother's Day.  Valentines would be a great time to sell them too.

My best selling scents are the red hot cinnamon, buttery vanilla and sunflower.

Post again if you have more questions.  I'll try to check back soon.

I'm so glad Brookstone put a link to this site.  It's nice to have a new message board to chat on.
